Category Archives: Engagements

On this freezing fall day I thought it’d be nice to post some pictures that I took this summer of my sister Jill, and her fiance Joe. I’ve been meaning to get these up here for a while now, and don’t let the delay convince you that I’m not excited about these two.  In fact I couldn’t be more excited!  The morning Jill told me she was engaged, I said “tell Joe when he proposed to you, he proposed to the whole family.  And we all say Yes!”  We were all starting to get a little anxious, and had actually talked about proposing to Joe instead.  Bribing him with cheese curds on his next visit to Wisconsin was another possibility.  But fortunately for everyone, no intervention was necessary.  Jill met Joe through a mutual friend, not too long after she moved to New York. And I guess the rest is history.  I can’t wait for their May wedding in Brooklyn!  Congrats you two!

Another year has rolled on by, and what a year it was!  I opened my little in-home studio and got to meet some adorable new babies, traveled to Duluth and California, saw two good friends marry wonderful husbands, I hung out with some fantastically funny families and cute quirky kids, and had the privilege of photographing so many wonderful, beautiful people.  I would like to thank each of you for your continued support – I wouldn’t be in business without you!  Here’s to an awesome 2013.  Happy New Year!

A collage of family portraits, newborn photos, head shots, wedding photos, and kids from 2012.

Now this was a fun photo shoot!  Sometimes it’s obvious when two people are truly meant to be together, and this is definitely the case for Renee and Matt.  I’ve been friends with Renee since college, and I couldn’t be happier for her.  Not just because it’s great to see her happy, but because I think Matt is a great guy.  It’s been really fun getting to know him over the last year or so.  One thing that made this shoot fun was finding some great locations that reflect their interests.  Matt majored in music (he has a beautiful voice), and they both love going to concerts together, so how fitting is this giant wall of music?  Renee is an architectural historian, so the Minneapolis milling district provided an excellent backdrop as well.  Congratulations you guys!  I can’t wait for the wedding!

Unfortunately a death in the family took Dave and Anne out of state the weekend we had planned to do their engagement photos.  So we decided to be flexible, and perhaps a bit unique, and do some “engagement” photos after their wedding!  We got together on this beautiful fall afternoon, Halloween in fact, and took a walk around their Minneapolis neighborhood.  We started at the small park where Dave had proposed, then headed over near the Walker Art Center and discovered some really neat photo spots.  Thanks Anne and Dave…it was fun as always!
